Matpolitikk i Norge- fremdelses norsk?

Role perception of representatives on management boards inEU-level agencies

2009

Masteroppgave i offentlig politikk og ledelse- Universitetet i Agder 2009 This study tries to explain what role perception different representatives on management boards in EU-level agencies adopt when they are attending board meetings and what influences the representatives to adopt the role they do. Do the representatives adopt a supranational role, an intergovernmental role or an expert role on the management board? I have chosen organizational theory and institutional theory to try to explain the different roles representatives adopt on the management board. Empirically, I observed that the representatives adopt an ambiguous role perception where they have to balance the three roles. Th…

Mot en felles europeisk forsvarsadministrasjon? : forsvarsadministrasjonens handlingsrom, og iverksettingsmyndighet, i EUs flernivåadministrasjon

2013

Autonomy of International Bureaucracies: On the Actor-Level Autonomy in the WTO Secretariat

2014

Masteroppgave offentlig politikk og ledelse- Universitetet i Agder, 2014 The research question in this study addresses actor-level autonomy as enacted by civil servants within an international bureaucracy, namely the WTO Secretariat. The objective is to identify underlying mechanisms arguably responsible for inciting patterns of behaviour among civil servants. This study is premised on the assumption that autonomy may be studied by examining behavioural patterns of the incumbents and that such behavioural patterns largely are a consequence of mechanisms of pre-socialization, re-socialization and organizational affiliation. The study consists of two main parts. The first part is descriptive …

Oiling the Wheels of Conflict? Local Grievances, Relative Deprivation and the Potential for Conflict in Cape Three Points, Ghana.

2015

Master thesis development management- University of Agder, 2015 Natural resource, particularly oil, has been predicted to be a core factor of internal conflicts in the post-cold war era (Le Billon, 2001; Klare, 2001). This thesis explores the potential for conflict in new and emerging petro-states where recent oil discoveries have raised concerns about the risk of oil conflict occurring. The relative deprivation theory (Gurr, 1970) serves as the main theoretical point of discussion for this study. Using a case study of Cape Three Points in Ghana, the study empirically examines how community level grievances, in terms of challenges and expectations connected with the discovery and production…

Negotiating the European External Action Service (EEAS): Analysing the External Effects of Internal (Dis)Agreement

2012

Presentation on department page: http://www.uia.no/no/portaler/om_universitetet/oekonomi_og_samfunnsvitenskap/statsvitenskap_og_ledelsesfag/ forskning_isl/isl_working_papers_series Analyses of the rising capacity for coordination within the Secretariats-General of the European Commission and Council have concentrated on their effects within these respective institutions. This article, in contrast, argues that the presence/absence of coordination capacities developed within an institution may have an important bearing also on the relations between institutions (e.g., in inter-institutional negotiations). The empirical analysis traces the negotiation process leading up to the creation of the …

When EU liberalisation fails: The case of the Port Directive

2012

Presentation on department page: http://www.uia.no/no/portaler/om_universitetet/oekonomi_og_samfunnsvitenskap/statsvitenskap_og_ledelsesfag/ forskning_isl/isl_working_papers_series The prevailing literature on European integration holds that asymmetries towards negative integration in the treaties are important for explaining increasing liberalisation reform in the EU. Additionally, literature on interest groups gives several reasons as to why labour unions are not likely to succeed at the EU level. However, to understand European integration, there is a need to also understand lack of integration. An in-depth analysis of the decision-making process of the EU Port Directive highlights the im…
